Alex Berlanga began his earthly journey on October 25, 1945. He was born in Mission, Texas.
In his teen years, his family moved to Mundelein, Illinois. He was the ultimate “urban” cow-
boy. He was know for spit-shined boots, starched jeans, white monogrammed shirt, western
belt buckle and a “just stepped out of Esquire magazine” look. He was a very handsome man
(of course, his wife may be prejudice).
His sons, Sal, Joe, Dominick and Tony would tell you that he was tough on the outside, but a
softy on the inside. He loved his family deeply. Would text many of them every morning just
to say hello. That’s how he started his day. He enjoyed taking great pride in his home and
kept it beautiful for his wife of 55 years. When his sons would tell him to slow down he would
say, “No, there’s this old man chasing me and if I slow down, he’ll catch up.”
He started his career as a shoe salesman at Joseph’s Shoe Salon in Old Orchard in Skokie, IL.
Then worked as a membrane technician at Culligan. He retired in 2003 and moved to Ocala,
Florida. In 2010 he moved to Hot Spring Village. There, he loved to go to Starbucks where he
made many friends, enjoyed working in his yard and making memories with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie and his four sons Sal (Jackie), Joe (Lorie), Dominick (Tammy)
and Tony. He is blessed with seven grandchildren Alissa, Anthony, Angel, Tara, Nick, Tyler, Nicole;
and two great granddaughters, Aubrey and Adalynn.
He is also survived by his sisters Dale Soto, Rosalinda Berlanga, and Aida Berlanga; and
brothers Joe Berlanga and Al Berlanga.
He ended his earthly journey on April 6, 2022 with family members at his side and was
welcomed into Jesus’ arms.
