Annelle Lightsey Smith McCaskey

Annelle Lightsey Smith McCaskey, 91, was born in Fairfax, SC on May 2, 1933. She passed away on August 19, 2024 at her home in Hot Springs Village, AR, with her daughters by her side.  

Annelle graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Education and taught school until she met the love of her life, Herbert Smith. They married on December 5, 1958 and enjoyed over 40 years of life together until Herb’s death on June 7, 1999. She married Jack McCaskey on September 7, 2003. He passed away on February 16, 2016.

Annelle enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, spending time with her family and friends. She had a beautiful smile, welcoming heart, and mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

She is survived by daughters Leszlie (John) Nedelka, Michelle (Mark) Herholdt Smith and Sheila (Terry) Ward, grandsons Clay and Adam Nedelka, stepchildren Steve (Kim) McCaskey, Tracey (Mark) Hopkins, step granddaughter, Olivia, sisters Virginia Causey and Resa (Doug) Monts, numerous nieces and nephews.

Annelle is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eula Lightsey, brothers Ralph, Harold, Max, Lamar and David Lightsey, sisters Leslye Fleniken and Louetta Barr, husband Herbert Smith, second husband, Jack McCaskey.

A graveside service will be held in her hometown of Fairfax, SC.
