Anthony "Tony" Cifelli, age 83 of Hot Springs Village, AR passed away on August 2, 2024, peacefully in his sleep.
Tony was an amazing husband and father. He strove his entire life to better not only himself but his family. He started his career in mortgage banking as a loan representative and by his retirement was a VP of one of the most prestigious loan companies in the United States. He was seen as the "fixer" for many companies looking for help improving their processes and was on the national "Y2K" committee to study and prepare for the change of the century looking to prevent problems that might occur in the banking system. At the time no one knew how the computers were going to deal with changing to the new millennium.
In retirement Tony became active with Habitat for Humanity, the Special Olympics, but most important to him was Rotary International and the Knights of Columbus. He served Rotary International as the President in 2008 for the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village. During his Rotary service he established a new Rotary club, Scenic 7, was awarded the Clark Deem Award for Service beyond self for 2006-2007 and 2009-2010, chaired the Rotary's District Conference for 3 years, and served Assistant Governor for the state of AR. With the Knights of Columbus, he achieved the honorary Fourth Degree member and served as Program Director for 4 years, was selected Knight of the Month, and served on the Knights of Columbus Convention Committee. He proudly served his Church and Faith until he passed, and it was his desire to be able to return to the service of both organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn, his daughter Cheryl Cotter and Mike Cotter of Joplin, MO, his son David Cifelli of Carmel, IN, his three grandchildren Kym Zapata, Sean Cifelli, and Madison Duke, 5 great grandchildren, and his three sisters Anita Toigo, Barbara Hawley, and Beverly Knestrick.
The family has requested, in lieu, of flowers, donations be made to the Rotary Club that Tony started, Rotary Club of North Garland County, Scenic 7.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Hot Springs Village, AR on August 12, 2024, with a Rosary service beginning at 10:30 followed by Mass. Arrangements were made under the direction of CedarVale Funeral Home inside the Hot Springs
