Claudia J. Bertrand, 83, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away in Hot Springs, Sunday, February 11, 2024. She was born January 17, 1941, in Hollywood, California to Dennis and Leana (Shouse) Felper. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her twin sister Claudette Blakemore, sister Bonnie Pearson and brother Arthur Edmunds.
Claudia is survived by her husband James Bertrand, daughter Leana (Brad) DeFurio of Loveland, Colorado, sister MaryLou McClure of Raymore, Missouri, stepdaughter Annette Avila of Denver, Colorado, stepsons Samuel (Terry) Bertrand of Redlands, California, Anthony (Patty) Bertrand also of Redlands, California, James (Pam) Bertrand Jr. of Bradenton, Florida and Kevin (Donna) Bertrand of Diamond Bar, California, 27 grandchildren in Florida, California and Colorado, nieces Tiffany (Mark) Shanley of Grady, Arkansas, Tanya Blakemore of Jacksonville, Florida and Tami (Aaron) Vaughn of Texas, nephew David Blakemore of Florida.
Claudia was a loving wife, mother, aunt and a devoted Christian. Claudia had obtained her Master’s Degree in Education and Music which she used as the church organist and Sunday school teacher in Calimesa, California. She was a missionary with MMAP mobile missions after her retirement in 1996, she was a special ed. teacher in California for 30 years, she was involved in the charity sewing and crafting program with W.I.N.G.S. (Women in God’s service) and she was a volunteer teacher at GlenHaven Youth Ranch for 5 years. She was a member of Village Bible Church.
There will be a private family service held at a later date. Arrangements were made under the direction of CedarVale Funeral Home inside the Hot Springs Village. Guest may register at cedarvalefuneralhome.com
