In loving memory of Dana Sue “Susie “Gillham who passed away May 20, 2022.
Born in Lufkin, Texas to the late William and Clarcie Connor Sullivan, Dana’s personality- like most things from Texas- was big. Passionate and opinionated, no one ever had to guess what she was thinking. Dana was very happy to share. It was Honey, her canine companion for over fourteen years, who was able to match her energy, feistiness and fun.
Honey was a great comfort when Dana lost her loving husband, Jimmy Gillham. Dana and Jimmy had married in 1988 and had shared 26 years of faith, family, and friendship. She had taken great pride in their home and yard. Nothing was ever overgrown, out of order, or even a little bit dusty. Jimmy would often tease Dana asking her, “Where are your white gloves?’
Dana was a celebrated collector of shoes (at last count 311 pair), purses (the purse has to match the shoes!), and friends. Her love of people, purple and accessories made Dana the perfect Red Hat Society lady. She was truly unique in her style, as well as her strong-willed support and compassion for those she loved.
Dana will be missed by her children, Becky Packer (David) and Ashley Johnson (Brent); and by her sisters Bonnie Edwards and Connie Harris. She will be especially missed by those who called her “Nanny”, her grandchildren Averie Grant (James), Jacob Packer (Emily), Jack Johnson and Georgia Johnson; and her great-grandchildren Alli and Cori Grant.
On Monday, June 6, 2022 Dana will join Jimmy at their final resting place in Memoryland Cemetery located in Greenville, Texas. A Graveside service will begin at 10am.
