Donald A. Schwartz

Don Schwartz was born July 26, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Ray and Mary Schwartz and died Aug. 15,
2022 in Mansfield, TX at the age of 89. Don was drafted into the United States Air Force in 1953. While
in pilot training in Enid, Oklahoma, Don met and married Martha Goodloe and they had two sons Phillip
born in 1957 and Stephen born in 1960. Don was proud to have served as a pilot for senior military
officers and dignitaries in the United States, Vietnam, Germany, and many other countries in Europe
until his retirement in 1973. Don’s dream was to complete his college education so after his retirement
he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Don completed his Bachelor of Science Degree
in Meteorology, with Honors in 1976. Don began his second career as a Meteorologist with the National
Weather Service in North Little Rock, AR and retired after 18 years. Don and Martha were fortunate to
build their dream retirement home in Hot Springs Village, AR in 1996 until Martha’s death in 2000. Don
found another love in Joe Hardin and they enjoyed their years together until Joe’s passing a couple of
years later. Don later met and married Ione Bartells but both agreed to part as friends.
Don and Mary Kasten soon began spending time together and enjoyed 14 years of love and laughter.
Don enjoyed good health for most of his life until health issues lead Don to relocate to north Texas in
2021 to be closer to family.
Don is survived by his sons Phillip (wife Lorrie), Stephen (wife Renee), Brother David (wife Michele), 3
grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
