Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Dr. Edward Earl Blaine, 90, of Hot Springs Village, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, July 15, 2022.
Edward was born Sunday, April 24, 1932, in Louisville, Mississippi to the late William and Carolyn Blaine. Edward graduated from Messick High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He then attended the University of Tennessee where he received his doctorate in dentistry. He then, married his first wife, Nancy Tucker. Upon graduation, he joined the US Navy, public health service. He was sent to the Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico to practice dentistry.
After a brief stint in New Mexico, the Navy transferred him to New York where he practiced at the Marine Medical Center on Staten Island. He retired as a Lieutenant in the Navy, and then moved back to Memphis.
There he met and married his wife, Martha. He opened his first dental practice where he worked for 30 years. After that, he and Martha moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where he later opened his second dental practice and worked there until he retired at age 80.
He was a Freemason and worked with children at the Shriners Hospital. He enjoyed breeding parakeets, flying radio-controlled airplanes, and working in his rose garden. He was a member of the Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association where he competed in their shooting competitions.
Edward is survived by his wife, Martha Blaine; his son, William (Tina) Blaine of Arlington, TX; daughter, Julie (Matt) Waugh of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, Stefanie Blaine, Caitlin Blaine, Kelly (Anthony) Keigley all of Arlington, TX, Parker Waugh of Smyrna, TN; one great-grandchild, Dean Jones of Arlington, TX and sister, Sandra Blaine.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lance McClure and Becky Guthrie from Home Instead for taking such great care of him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at CedarVale Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
