George Roser, fisherman, traveler, and story teller passed away on November 29, 2021. He was 82.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1939, George often told of how he started his education in a one room schoolhouse and how when he decided to join the Air Force in 1956, he was under the minimum weight requirement. The recruiter suggested George did not have enough money in his pockets. So George, as he told it, filled his pockets with change and still barely made weight. From 1965 to 1969, he was stationed in Germany with the 7406 SUPRON as a Flight Engineer. He retired from service in 1979 after more than 20 years, completing his service in the Alaska Air Guard.
George was full of stories about his many adventures, including places he had visited and worked. Whether he was piloting planes for Red Dodge Aviation in Alaska, maintaining operations for ABB in Malaysia, starting his own consulting firm in Virginia, exploring the States in his R.V., fishing from his dock at Lake of the Ozarks, or telling his very favorite tales -the ones about his family, the Airforce, or Alaska- George’s stories were full of his sharp wit, timeless advice, and always concluded with his unforgettable laugh.
Those who will miss his laugh most are his wife of more than forty years, Karen; son, Scott (Jamie) Roser; daughter, Sandra Stedman; grandchildren Aria and Christian Stedman; sister, Barbara Cotter; brother, Robert (Constance) Roser; and the many people who asked for George’s brilliant advice over the years and were happily answered -often with a spreadsheet, step-by-step common sense instructions, a story, and, of course, a laugh.
A Memorial Service at CedarVale Chapel will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army at www.SalvationArmy.org
