Irmgard R. Clement passed away November 14, 2022. Born in 1924 at Oldenberg, Germany to the late Caspar and Margareta von Roeskam-Witz, Irmgard grew up during the Nazi regime. Much of the time before and during World War II, food was scarce, air raids were frequent, and the threat of Nazi persecution hung over everyone’s heads. Irmgard survived having little to eat, sneaking in the occasional listen to BBC radio war reports, and being buried in air raid shelters under the collapsed remains of a building- twice.
In 1950, Irmgard immigrated to the United States intent on recovering and rebuilding. She put herself through UC Med becoming a physician. She was also skilled in most major home repairs. Able to both plumb and wire a house, there was rarely any need to call a repair person.
Irmgard married West Point graduate and Army veteran, Joseph Clement, who passed away in 2002. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Karin.
Remembering Irmgard will be her son, Mark Clement (Shawn Pannell); extended family members; and many friends.
A graveside service will begin at 10am at CedarVale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Irmgard wished for memorials be made to charities of your choice.
