James Emmett Bland went to be with his Lord on November 1st, 2024.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Illinois on February 9th, 1932 to Robert Walton and Ruth Olivia Bland.
Graduating Jacksonville High School after which he joined the United States Air Force. Discharged in 1958. At that time he entered University of California at Riverside. Then was approached by Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal, his career taking him to New York, Palo Alta, Riverside and Dallas. After 35 years, he retired in Dallas them moving to the Hot Springs Village in 1999 where he was active at Village United Methodist Church. Continuing his work from Dallas he worked at Habitat for Humanity, active in the Rotary Club, driving for SCAT and starting a handyman business.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother and step-daughter Tammy Dunham.
Leaving behind the love of his life, Colleen, 4 children Timothy Bland, Amy Bland, Jeffery Bland and Penny Luongo, sister-in-law Cecelia Rittgers, brother-in-law Bobby Young, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A military memorial service will be held at CedarVale Cemetery on Thursday, November 7th, 2024 at 2pm.
In remembrance of Jim, donations are appreciated at Village United Methodist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
