James F. White

James F. White

James Franklin White died on March 15th 2022 at the age of 88.

Jim was born on June 26th 1933, in Guthrie Oklahoma. He was the only child of Charles Franklin White and Florence Ione Brickner. He was proceeded in death by his parents and son, Kevin Lewis White.

He is survived by his sons, Kent Franklin White, James Brett White and David Wade White, and three grandchildren, Thomas James White, Gail Robinson White, & Jamie Blair White.

During WWII, Jim attended the Ponca Military Academy, 5th through the 9th grade. He graduated from Guthrie High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. He volunteered for the draft during the Korean Conflict and served in a MASH Unit in Korea. When he returned from Korea he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957, with a degree in business. His first jobs were with Continental Oil Company, and Tennessee Gas Transmission Company.

In 1968, while living in Shreveport, Louisiana he formed his own independent oil exploration company. He was active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the YMCA & the Petroleum Club of Shreveport. He also served as President of the ArkLaTex Association of Petroleum Landmen, and he was active in the Shreveport Geological Association, The Am Assn. of Petroleum Landmen, and Am. Petroleum Institute. He was also a member of the First Families of the Twin Territories, with both sets of his grandparents making the “run” in to the Oklahoma Territory in 1889.

He remained in the oil business until he retired to Hot Springs Village, AR, in 1995, with his beloved wife, Nell.
Jim and Nell White were active at the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines where Jim enjoyed serving on several committees.
