On Monday, July 19, 2021, Jerry Davis, loving husband, and father, passed away at the age of 79 after a valiant battle with cancer. He is preceded in death his both his parents, Myrtle and Leeroy Davis.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Florence and son, Tom Davis.

Jerry grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His work experience was primarily in mental health services and financial fields. He earned an MBA and various certifications in counseling and accounting.

Jerry retired to theater, writing, and random activities as the whim struck him. He co-edited and contributed to three books of short plays and a collection of award-winning short stories. He was the first Arkansas resident to receive the American Association of Community Theater “Spotlight Award” for a lifetime of service to Community Theater. He led presentations at local, regional, and multi-state conferences on senior theater and governance, playwriting, dialog, and techniques in public readings.

Jerry was President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Senior Arts Programs, Past President of the Arkansas Community Theater Association, directed a small and dedicated senior theater group, served as President of a local Writers’ Club, and was a Past District Governor of Toastmasters. He occasionally sang in public, often in line at Walmart.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Community of Joy Lutheran Church, 110 Balboa Road, Hot Springs Village, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Jerry’s name to your local community theater.
