Jimmy Vines Hamilton

Beloved husband and father, Jimmy Vines Hamilton, entered the arms of the Lord on April 6, 2022, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He passed peacefully with his closest family members at his side.

Jimmy was born on July 15, 1945, in Water Valley, Mississippi to Herbert and Hazel Vines. He graduated from Messick High School in Memphis in 1963, and then attended the University of Mississippi and Memphis State University. He began his career in 1965 as a printer’s apprentice at Memphis Publishing Company which printed The Commercial Appeal and Memphis Press- Scimitar newspapers. By the time he retired in 2000, he had become Director of Operations.

A life-long fascination with firefighting and respect for those who serve us all that way led Jimmy to help start the Fire Museum of Memphis and a second career as CEO of the museum until he retired for good in 2004 and moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Here he enjoyed fishing from the patio of his house on Lake Coronado, woodworking, and travelling. He also spent several years as the Secretary of the Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club and was a member of Balboa Baptist Church.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Johanna Hamilton; daughter Michelle Watson; and son-in-law, Darin Watson.

A visitation will begin at 1pm, Monday, April 11, 2022 in the chapel at CedarVale Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2pm. Interment will follow at CedarVale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village or the Fire Museum of Memphis, 118 Adams Ave, Memphis, TN 38103
