Jo Ann E. DeShon, born May 27, 1928, in Ohio and passed on August 29, 2024 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. She was raised in Arkansas and Missouri, then settled in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jo Ann was well known for her skills in cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She enjoyed the outdoors and experiencing nature. Her striking blue eyes, love of dancing, and sense of humor meant she never met a stranger.

Her professional life was eclectic as well ranging from dairy farming, owner of a mobile home park, entering the construction field as the first female electrical inspector in Anaheim, California. After retirement and relocation to Jonestown, Texas she opened the Wildflower Café that featured real home cooking. After leaving working life behind she retired again and designed, built and moved into her dream home in HSV, AR.

After many hardships in her life, she was able to celebrate 52 years of sobriety. She is preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Goldie Whetstone, brother Bob Whetstone, sister Bonnie Place, and son Dean DeShon of Kirby, AR.

She is survived by her remaining children, daughter Pam (Ken) Altman, son Terry DeShon, son Brian DeShon, son Mitch (Cary) DeShon, and daughter Heather (Brad) Everett. As well as 5 grandsons, Tyler & Spencer DeShon, Trevor DeShon, Cooper & Cameron Everett and one great granddaughter Karma DeShon.

Arrangements were made and directed by CedarVale Funeral Home, the only funeral home inside the Hot Springs Village. Guests may register at cedarvalefuneralhome .com
