Lippe B. Smit, born on August 21, 1949, in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, passed away on January 8, 2025, at Hot Springs National Park. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his illustrious career and engaging personality.

Lippe arrived in the USA in 1959 at the age of 9 years old. 64 years later he decided to become a US Citizen and most recently cast his first votes in our National Election. 

Lippe dedicated 32 years of his life to a Sales Representative, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. His education foundation was established with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal Poly Pomona, which helped pave the way for his successful professional journey.

Known for his dry sense of humor, Lippe brought joy and laughter to those around him. He had a zest for life that extended beyond his professional endeavors, He was an avid golfer and fly fisherman, showcasing a natural talent for both pursuits. Additionally, Lippe’s culinary skills were noteworthy, as he enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with his loved ones.

Lippe is survived by his beloved wife of almost 17 years, Sandra Marie (Lane) Smit of Hot Springs Village, AR; his daughter, Kari Smit, residing in Portland, OR; and his son, Nicholas Smit, from Upland, CA, and Nick’s two sons Bodhi and Zion. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Jennifer Jenkins, of Galivants Ferry, SC, and stepson, Robert Strenkowski of Eureka, CA. Lippe is further survived by his sister, Rixt Smit, of Redondo Beach, CA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Klaas Smit, and his mother Hendrika (DeVries) Smit, who both provided him with a loving foundation that shaped the man he became. Lippe’s legacy of kindness, humor and love for life will resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
