Major William (Bill) Alex Evans Jr, USAF, Retired, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born July 15, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee to his late parents, William Alex Evans Sr and Maddie Louise Evans. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Evans. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sherry Daniel Evans; two brothers, Robert (Odette) of England and Byron (Eva) of Dallas, Tx; his son, William Darren Evans (Maria) and daughters, Katherine, Sarah, and Faith; and his daughter, Melanie Evans Hernandez (Gilbert) and children, Andrea and Brandon; and his several great grandchildren.  

Bill received a B.S. in Math from Arkansas State Teachers’ College (now University of Central Arkansas), BS in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a MS in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. 

Bill and Sherry moved to Hot Springs Village in 1999, and Bill became an active member and leader in the Men’s 9 Hole Golf Group, the American Legion, Camera Club, and Computer Club. He greatly enjoyed water skiing on Lake Balboa and teaching his grandchildren to water ski. 

His graveside service will be held at CedarVale Cemetery on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m, presided by Reverend Chris Hemund. Any memorials may be given to the Village United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
