Nan P. Young, age 92, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 26, 2023 at CHI St Vincent hospital in Hot Springs, AR.
Born December 23, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, Nan worked as a medical technologist for 30 years, retiring from McLaren General Hospital in 1983.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dallas Young, parents Ralph and Audrey Curry and brother Timothy Curry all of Flint, MI, sister Lynda Meerson of Bennington, VT, son-in-law Mark Meservey of Okemos, MI and stepson Gregory Young of Fenton, MI.
She is survived by her three children: Tanya and husband William Bray of Hot Springs Village, AR, Frederick Timmer and wife Cherese of Olympia, WA and Amy Timmer of Okemos, MI; stepson Robert Young and daughter-in-law Ann Marie Young of Fenton, MI; brother Thomas Curry and wife Judy of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces Annie Berkson of Chicago, IL and Rachel Meerson of Meadville, PA; grandchildren Christopher Rowland and wife Allison and Angela Marie and husband Clifford Everhart; and great grandchild Archer Rowland.
Nan and Dallas retired to Hot Springs Village in 1983. After serving 9 years as a volunteer EMT with Cedar Mountain Ambulance Service in the Village, Nan joined the Garland County Chapter of the Red Cross. She volunteered in 22 disasters - going twice to 9/11. She taught many classes including disaster training, CPR and BAT (basic aid training for 4th graders). In 2005 she was recognized as an Arkansas Volunteer of the Year.
A celebration of Nan's life will be announced at a later date. In honor of Mrs.Young donations may be made to the American Red Cross. Arrangements are by Cedarvale Funeral Home of Hot Springs Village, AR.
