Odell Elvin Tabor, 84, of Hot Springs Village passed away January 12, 2023. Born in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas to the late Dale and Alma Tabor, Odell began driving a truck at 12 years old to help his father haul billets, logs and lumber. He stayed in the lumber business throughout his career- working for Roddis Lumber, Georgia Pacific, Weyerhaeuser, and retiring in 2005 from Quality Wholesale Building Products. Odell also spent several years as a building contractor.
He and his wife, Jean retired to Hot Springs Village in 2007. Odell planned to play many rounds of golf. Instead he became known in his neighborhood as “Digger Odell”- always planting, pruning, and caring for his yard.
Odell will be missed most by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Smith Tabor; children Cheryl (Paul) McCullough and Kerry (Dorothy) Tabor; granddaughters Kasey (Justin) Hollensworth and Kenzy Tabor; brothers Wayne (Jimmie) Tabor and Vester (Linda) Tabor; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A graveside service at 1pm Tuesday, January 17, 2023 will take place at Grenade Cemetery in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the cemetery Grenade Cemetery C/O Darla Nichols, 3953 Wooded Ave, Springdale, Arkansas 72764
