Richard Jurek

Richard Stanley Jurek, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, was born in Blue Island, Illinois to the late Stanley and Lillian (Zysk) Jurek on July 8, 1943. He passed away in his home on November 12, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gerry.

In 1972 on an elevator in the New York Hilton, Richard met the love of his life, Kathy Saylor. They married in 1974 and settled together in Midlothian, Illinois. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, the Flying Clown Company (a charitable organization), and Calument Country Club where he made many lifelong friends.

Richard and Kathy retired to Hot Spring Village Arkansas in 2007. Together they boated, entertained friends and family. Richard organized a men’s golf group and for more than ten years delighted in the camaraderie among the guys.

An Institutional Stock Trader for 42 years (mostly at Mesirow Financial of Chicago), Richard also played the stock game with his children- sometimes even letting them win. Richard was quite competitive and loved bowling, golfing, but game nights with the family most of all. Game nights and movie fun with Papa complete with ice cream, candy bars and popcorn are among his grandkids favorite memories.

Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, (ANGEL) Kathy Jurek; daughters Michelle (Michael) Gower and, Melissa (Kevin) Lovell; grandchildren Griffin, Genna , Mason, Madison(Joshua Ross), Allison, and Bryson; great-grandchildren Jaxson Lovell and Asher Ross; as well as, brother in law, Allyn (Sandra) Saylor .

Funeral services will be held at 1pm, November 19, 2021 at the CedarVale Funeral Home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers and as a celebration of Richard’s passion for golf, a memorial fund will be established for the First Tee of Arkansas, 1 First Tee Way, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
