Robert Steinpreis was born in Sheboygan WI to Henry and Anna Steinpreis (Gorr) on April 27, 1935. He had a brother, Albert, who was 10 years older than he. He grew up doing a lot of walking back and forth to school since his parents did not have a automobile.
During and after high school he worked in grocery stores and eventually became a meat cutter. At around the age of 30 he applied for a job as a fire fighter and found his calling as he joined the City of Sheboygan Fire Department where he eventually became a Lieutenant and head of his station on the south side of Sheboygan. He had many wonderful and scary memories of his days on duty for 30 years.
He and his wife Renee, whom he met 49 years ago on Friday the 13 of February, and fell in love with on Valentine’s Day, had many wonderful trips all over the world, from skiing in Europe and Montana, to canoeing in the boundary waters in Canada, hiking in Machu Pichu Peru, and snorkeling in Cayman Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. In Australia they had their first Hot Air Balloon Ride and also enjoyed a cruise up the inside passage to Alaska.
He and Renee retired to Hot Springs Village 29 years ago and have never had a days regret for the wonderful life he lived. In the village, he enjoyed tennis, golf and pickleball. He was grateful for his many friends from activities, SHJ Catholic Church, KofC, and his neighbors.
Bob is survived by his wife Renee, six children, Kurt, Mark, Kelly, Guy, Wade and Chis; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children live in WI, MN, Kentucky and Alaska!!!.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Al, and a daughter, Julie.
Bob will be missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace!!
