ROY L. FOSTER, JR., 85, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Monday, July 26, 2021.Roy was born May 5, 1936 in McNeil, Arkansas to Lillie Mae (McDermott) Foster and Roy L. Foster, Sr.  He was born at home and delivered by his father. Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.  He was a member of Balboa Baptist Church.Roy most of all wants to be remembered as a Christian who loved the Lord.  He loved the Bible and read and studied it daily.Roy never met a stranger – he spoke to everyone and always asked if they knew Jesus.  He served as Deacon at Balboa and served on many committees.   He loved walking, as he walked 5 miles a day and was an avid golfer.  Whenever asked how are you, his answer was “Better than I deserve”.
He had a great sense of humor and loved telling everyone about the early days of the Village.  Roy came to Hot Springs Village in 1977 and opened the Village Food Mart. He was President-CEO of Foster’s Foods which had grown into a five-store corporation creating more than 200 jobs in Garland and Saline Counties. He also served on many boards including the Boy Scouts, Affiliated Foods and the Arkansas Retail Grocers and Merchants Association.Roy was involved  with  the FCA,  the Razorback Club, Rotary and sponsored cancer tournaments at Diamante.   Preceded in death was his first wife Mary Ellen Foster,Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann and his 4 children: Susan Bratton (Robert) of Alexander, AR, Roy (Bud) L. Foster III (Michelle) and Lloyd Fosterboth of Hot Springs, AR, Pat Gardner (David) of Little Rock, AR. and a stepson, Chris Duggan (Michele) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He had 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The service for Roy will be August 19, 2021 at Balboa Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled from 10-11 a.m.  A memorial service will be held following the visitation at 11 a.m.with Dr. Denny Wright officiating.  A graveside service for family  is at Cedar Vale Cemetery, Hot Springs Village, AR. Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N.
